As far as I am concerned, you cannot go wrong with Nick Hornby. I had just read something for book club that was just awful, so I needed for my next to book to be something that I would enjoy. I have enjoyed all his other books, they are not challenging or earth-shattering but they are always entertaining and witty.
This is the story of four very different people who all happen to meet one night at the top of a tall building. They had all gone up there to commit suicide by throwing themselves off, but after talking to each other they all decide not to. The unusual story goes on from there.
This book is about the be released as a film. I made the mistake of checking who was cast as whom before even getting halfway through the book. Naturally, they have got it all wrong, as they always do. The people in the film never look like they do in my head.
This is funny and intelligent and easy to read. It’s light and amusing and I think it will work well as a film, so I fully intend to see it.
