Orange is the New Black – Piper Kerman

Piper Kerman was raised in an affluent, middle-class family in Massachusetts. She is intelligent and well-educated. She did something stupid in her youth (who didn’t?), got caught, and sentenced to 15 months in prison on a drug-related charge. But, due to a slow and bureaucratic legal system, and for some reason a lawyer wanting her to testify against another defendant before she went to prison, her sentence was put off for ten years.
